Elliott & Associates is the Illinois leader in the field of vapor intrusion mitigation. We are experts in existing and new construction commercial buildings. We have been installing sub-slab depressurization systems (SSDS) since 1986. Understanding building dynamics is the key to the success of any vapor intrusion or radon mitigation system. Our experience and training have guided us to develop the most comprehensive approach to building diagnostics and system design. Our clients benefit from a properly designed system that will also achieve the lowest cost of ownership.

We work with environmental consultants, engineers, architects, general contractors, and building owners. We also provide consulting services. Following the guidelines set forth by organizations such as the EPA, ASTM, AARST, NRPP, and IEMA, the procedures we utilize are discussed below.

Our design approach involves a three-step process:

  1. Collect site-specific use information. This is an important step used to balance space function with system cost. For example, it is desirable to minimize visible piping in a retail space; so higher capacity fans can be incorporated to minimize visible piping.
  2. Perform site-specific pressure field extension testing. This phase involves coring holes through the concrete floor and testing the pressure field created with a series of test fans to determine the sub slab aggregate gradient to be used in the system deign.
  3. Use the data collected in the first two phases to create drawings and a specification identifying the equipment and layout of the system.

Other services we provide:
  • Radon Measurement and Mitigation
  • Asbestos Testing and Removal
  • Mold Remediation
